Whether you were sent to a location by a client or you went on a self assigned trip, your travel photography can overlap with stock photography. A good travel photographer usually has a balance of clients and a nice library that they either sell themselves as stock or sell through an agency.
It is worth mentioning here, too, that magazine editorial work can be very rewarding for the travel photographer who makes the right connections. You will be surprised by how many specialty magazines and publications are out there. You just need to find them and call one of their photo editors to see how you can get them to see your work. Again, this is when the salesperson in you must excel.
